Are you FIT?
A while back a friend of mine Ben posted about a pod casting site he liked to listen too. Well, out of being tired of the same old tracks spinning on my hard drive, I found my way back to the site. Any how, they have a good cast with Ward Cunningham and Rick Mugridge about FIT and their book about FIT. I am not one that knows much about it and so I decided to listen in and also search for the book on Safari. I was even more excited to find that they have it listed to be consumed. I have yet to dig ......

Microsoft and Nightly Builds
The more I read and play with the new features of the next release of VS the more I am impressed. I was reading a quick article on MSDN about : Performing Nightly Builds with Team Foundation Server I am a person that believes that nightly builds are a large part of projects being sucessful. Not only from an agile perspecitve of letting your customer see what is being built sooner, but also the fact that it makes it so that the team can see how the solution is coming together. Not to leave off the ......

VB.NET Structures with Events?
So it has been posted previously that Structures were very much like Classes in the .NET framework with some very subtle differences. While going over the material on structures in my class last night one of my better students that comes from a Java background asked a very interesting question. “If structures are so close to classes then can they handle events?” Come to find out you can declare an event in a structure just as you can declare a Sub, Functions, Properties, and Constructors. ......

Sharepoint Web Parts
If you are into sharepoint and you regularly deploy web parts then you might realize that it can at times be a huge pain. Anyhow, I found a newsletter from DevX in my e-mail this morning with a good article about the topic. Every book I read about this process it seems like there isn't really good information about the process itself, so this author does a good job about keeping the information simple and to the point. He also offers some suggestions on some common errors you might recieve during ......

Microsoft Certified Trainer
I recently was able to enroll as a Microsoft Certified Trainer. I am finding the program to be a bit daunting. I have been looking at all of the training materials that I have at my disposal and the library seems to be enormous, but the best part is that to download all of the materials off of the site over a cable modem connection it takes most of the night. Anyhow, I am excited about the new certification and ready to start giving courses, but I have also been asked to instruct a class on Sharepoint ......

NTFS on an external harddrive
Okay, I am all about simple fixes to problems. And this last week I was trying to unzip some training .vhd's on my external hard drive so that I could start them up and play around. I found that the hard drive was sporting a FAT32 filesystem format. Which is all fine and good for practical purposes, but with some of the .vhd's getting over 4MB's it wouldn't unzip siting a limitation for file sizes on the filesystem Anyhow, long story short I needed to convert the filesystem format on the harddrive ......
