Burning Out...

Saturday, October 7, 2006 10:32 PM

Ugh...what a week. Thank goodness that we Canucks have Thanksgiving this weekend so I have Monday off. It's been a crazy week, both work and rl wise. Nothing bad, just really busy. Of course, I'm typing this at 1:23AM local time after finishing up the study for my church youth service I help lead...so apparantly the busyness is still in effect.

Life with the Mac has been...interesting. WoW looks amazing, but I still can't get the hang of how to properly install new programs. I know that sounds really stupid, but I tried installing Parallels tonight. I downloaded the installer, ran it, entered in my temporary code or whatever, and it told me that I needed to restart. Ok. So I do a hard restart (shouldn't a software program be smart enough to force an OS reboot instead of the user having to hold down the power button?), and when I went back in it told me that there was a lock file on the VM I created and it was associated with another instance of Parallels running. Huh?! I just restarted my Mac, what do you mean its still associated?!

So then I try to open my VM and it prompts me for my temporary key again...and then prompts me to reboot my system! I just uninstalled it for fear I'd bugger something up. I'll talk to Justice hopefully this weekend sometime and get the 411 on how to install this thing properly (J - ping me on MSN tomorrow).

I booked some vacation days finally with work...I haven't had a full week off since June 2005, so over a year now. I have taken a week's worth of vacation since then, but not all at once (a day here, a day there...). I'm really appreciating the whole "vacation" thing...seeing it as an opportunity to just rejuvenate...I'm really looking forward to it.

Ok, enough life story crap...off to bed. I leave you with this image from Matthew Good's website. Language is a bit strong, but considering the atrocities happening in Dufar, the continuing religious persecution in China, and the 500 lb gorilla in the room with the "Iraq War" hat on, I think there's more important things we should be talking about than an f-bomb.
