Happy 0x22 b-day to me :)
I started celebrating my birthday in hex when I turned 0x19 because I thought it would be fun to be "19" again - of course that kinda lost its luster the next year when I became 0x1A - just doesn't have the same ring to it, eh? Fast forward to 2 years ago whe I finally got to turn "20" again and now it's got a nice ring again...heh heh. My daughter picked out a new mountain bike for me to ride - her subtle way of getting me to actually ride a bike with her rather than what I usually do which is ride ......

Is it just a government thing or what?
So I’m reading the blog post from Yow-Hann Lee about this guy who worked for the Alaska Department of Revenue who managed to slick a hard drive containing $38 Billion in data…oh and he slicked the backup hard drive too…nice touch. What gets me even more than that he slicked the drive(s) – is the part of the article where they talk about the backup tapes being unreadable...what is it with organizations that decide “OK we’ve *got* to have a disaster recovery plan” but then they don’t think it through ......

Thanks Glen!

Thanks Glen and the rest of the Microsoft team that put on the MSDN Event in Charleston yesterday! For those who haven't attended one of the MSDN Events this round....check it out because there's some really cool demo's and code there working with the core components of .NET 3.0.

Happy 3/14!

What do Albert Einstein, the Linux Kernel v 1.0.0 and the mathematical constant pi have in common?

You can celebrate all three of them today!

Einstein was born on this day in 1879. The Linux Kernel v 1.0.0 was released on this day in 1994 and pi has been around forever, it just wasn't until some time ago some geeks decided that March 14 (3/14) was a good day to celebrate their favorite mathematical constant :)

With all that said - Happy 3/14 to all!

Attend an MSDN Event in March and get a free copy of Office Professional 2007
As I was going over an e-mail this morning from Glen Gordon he told me initially there were 10 copies to give away at our local Charleston MSDN event...but then later it changed to just giving it away to each person who attends...a pretty sweet deal if you ask me! So those of you in or around the Charleston area, go ahead and register and we'll see you out there! If you can't make the Charleston event, see Columbia, SC or Atlanta GA - All three links below: Tuesday, March 13 - Columbia, SC Thursday, ......

Joost – Install and first run
OK so thanks to Scott I now have in my possession the Joost install – downloaded it and went to install. I’ll say this – the install routine could have been a little cleaner. There was a progress bar while installing and then suddenly the whole install window went away and I waited….nothing and then the whole screen is engulfed in the Joost login screen prompting me to login to the site. I goofed and typed the wrong password in the first time before I remembered a capitalization issue and got it ......

I saw this on and just had to buy it:

In almost every office I visit I see these goofy posters on the wall and I’ve always cringed when I saw them so this one was fitting – it’s going up on the wall in my office with a mini-version going up on the cubicle wall @ work :)

Home Invasions in South Carolina - Just not a good idea...
Last week there was a story locally in Charleston where some young punk kicked in the back door to a guys house at night armed with a gun to try and rob him. Turns out the young punk got more than he bargained for because the homeowner wrestled the gun from the attacker's hands and shot him in the gut. The attacker lives on and the homeowner is not being charged. Fast forward to this week and a story about a guy down in Hilton Head who broke into his ex-girlfriends apartment with a sword....only ......

Hardware Review: Buffalo LinkStation Pro 250
Buffalo LinkStation Pro 250 Pros Easy Setup Gigabit Port onboard 2 USB ports for expansion Quiet/Cool running Cons No HTTPS for web based configuration I recently started looking for additional external storage on my home network because I was running low on space for the existing solution which is 1 (one) 400GB External USB connected Drive and 1 (one) 250GB USB connected Drive. I have a single USB Drive Enclosure which I swap the two drives in and out of…not pretty but it works. One of my main gripes ......
